50th Anniversary

TIGER NAVY 50th ANNIVERSARY

1964-2014

The Harmar Rowing Club, Inc. and Marietta High School Tiger Navy invite the community to “Join the Celebration” of the fiftieth anniversary of rowing at Marietta High School. Our first teams took to the water in spring 1964 to compete against other local teams and soon thereafter were competing successfully on a national level. Initially, this was a boys’ only sport, but in 1976 girls were added and the sport mushroomed into one of the most popular amateur high school and collegiate sports in the world. Marietta’s program has grown apace with the growth of rowing and we continue our tradition of boating competitive crews. Literally thousands of youth and their families have contributed to and benefited from the Marietta rowing experience these fifty years with second and even third generation rowers now enjoying their time on the water.

We are encouraging and accepting donations through the Marietta High School Alumni and Friends Foundation.  These donations will help to enhance and update the equipment in order to keep our rowers on a level playing field with other teams.  We have a goal of raising $100,000 over a 3-year period.  Please click on the following link to connect to the Marietta High School Foundation website which will take you directly to their donation page.  Type “Crew” in the space provided to identify that you want your donation to go directly to crew.  Donations can be made by credit card, Paypal or check sent by mail to the MHS Alumni Foundation
